Randy is a 3rd grade student in my class who was playing outside in his neighborhood and was struck by a car driven by a man who was intoxicated. In addition to many scrapes and bruises, Randy’s left foot was completely destroyed by the car’s tire. He was taken to UK hospital where he underwent one surgery to begin repairing his foot. He faces another surgery today. I’ve seen the pictures of the damage to this child’s foot. It’s something I never want to witness again. No child should have to suffer so senselessly. Randy’s mother has the only income, and, of course, she’s staying around the clock with Randy at the hospital. They need our help to get through this senseless tragedy.
