Good morning Everyone! Here is the latest update on Randy & Denise Shattuck. They still have a lot of cost, that they could really use help with. Here is a update from Denise Shattuck, then I hope to be able to share the latest wood TV 8 update on Dennis Upton, the guy that took the Shattucks $11,000, did a shady job, left a huge mess and vanished. So very sad, but if you would please share this page, or even try to find it in your heart to help them, they would be very grateful.
The roof is soon to be completed by weeks of dedication by Gesink Building Services-Doug Gesink . Doug was left with a couple thousand dollars in out of pocket costs, which he is working on to have assistance in paying off the supplier bills. The roof should be completed this weekend, and then the rest continues, The interior is still in need of the repairs from the damage caused by the horror of the bad roof done by Upton Construction (who is now jailed on other charges) . The interior cost appear to be about $6000 with labor costs, yet needed. There are 5 rooms with damage from Uptons shady roof job. If you can help, it would be great! Please prayers are needed and share the info.

Randy & Denise Shattuck of Ionia, Michigan hired Dennis Upton, from Upton's Quality Construction, in Lansing (Ingram County) Michigan to put on a new roof. He came in 2 times, bid the job at $11,585 showed his proof of insurance, and also his license, so they hired him, and gave him the cash. The roof he did, has to be tore off and completely re-done, as it is not up to code. He left a huge mess that needs to be cleaned up. At this point Randy & Denise are looking at an additional $20,000.00 to do the roof right. The contractor needs to get the building permit, and also have a license thru LARA state licensing, and be insured.
Dennis Upton put a pitch roof on a flat roof that does not have a steep enough incline to be pitched. He used 2x4s instead of womanizer 2x6s, then he placed them every 6 to 8 ft, when they have to be every 2 ft. We now have huge sink holes, he did 1 spot of facia and soffit, put 3 new boards over rotted old board, and didn't do facia or soffit anywhere else. He hung the gutters all wrong, he was suppose to install 4 cam vents, but only did 3 and put them in wrong, he done the cap wrong, as well as the seam around the chimney is done wrong. We now need 2 bids for tv8 and the prosecutors office. They have to have a Lara license and insurance providing the license number, proof of insurance and references.
Dennis Upton has a warrant in Eaton county for shop lifting, failure to appear, non-paid court fees, and a couple other things. Ionia put a warrant out on him Thursday for what he did to the Shattucks. They are his 3rd victoms, but the other 2 didn't come forth until they did. One was $300 from a woman and the other was not doing any clean up! Sadly he seems to be on the run, we just hope and pray he is caught up with soon before he takes another persons money and runs.
Any amount big or small would be greatly appreciated. I personally do not know Randy and Denise Shattuck, but when I seen their story on wood tv8, it touched my heart and I felt the need to try to help them any way possible. That's what small communities do, in someone's time of need, so please, as a small town/community of Ionia, and surrounding towns, can we all pull together and help this poor innocent family, that became victims, with cleanup, and tearing off the old roof and installing the new roof properly. I honestly can't imagine being taken advantage of for such a large amount of money. We all know money these days is tight, so if you can donate something, it will help. Maybe if you can't donate money, maybe you can find it in your heart to donate time, cleaning up. ANY & ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
