New Album from Chris Berry and Ande

It started over 15 years ago in the windswept deserts of northern New Mexico, as an apprenticeship.
Almost two decades and countless sessions later, this vibrant collaboration has journeyed to the lush jungles of Hawaii's Big Island.
Chris Berry, master of African drumming and mbira music, has imparted his knowledge to the members of Ande Marimba since their childhoods. The Ande Marimba Band has in turn spread the music across the country, inspiring countless others. Together they have learned and grown.
And now, for the first time, Ande Marimba and Chris Berry have entered the recording studio with intentions to make an album like none other: An album representing the totality of these efforts...the transmission of music from one place and time to the next.
We spent three weeks in the Hawaiian jungle rehearsing from dawn to dusk, tuning instruments by hand and by chisel, and recording songs both new and ancient. Sleeping in a single 8x11 foot hut and cooking meals over an open fire, we literally lived and breathed this project 24 hours a day.
The progress so far has been tremendous, so much so that we are prepared to tour the West Coast this very summer to spread this amazing music to as many people as we can!
However, in order finish the album, and prepare for the tour, we need your help! The costs of making a top-quality album are not insignificant, and many still remain, and tours are risky and expensive endeavors. The sooner we reach our fundraising goal, the sooner we can get this album out into the world, and into your hands! Whether you're a member of our vibrant North American community of Zimbabwean music fans, or a friend or family member showing support, or even a stranger from across the globe, your contribution will help us to create a fusion of music unlike anything you've heard before... An album that bridges worlds and continents, that unites far-flung cultures, and carries ancient knowledge into the 21st Century....
