Support Lents Fire Victims

Hi folks,
Last night there was a fire in the Lents Town Center. Working Class Acupuncture was badly damaged and the residents of three apartment units have been displaced. There is always a silver lining though, right? Nobody was injured. That's the good news. It was also uplifting that seemingly every firefighter in Portland was on hand to knock the fire out. Trimet brought out a bus to keep people warm. The Red Cross ensured the victims knew resources were available.
Some of you will know the residents there, if not by name. Many of us have seen Jeremy sitting on the bioswale strumming his acoustic bass. Jess is one of the smiliest faces in Lents and one of the most welcoming employees at Fred Meyer. Together with their two kids, they Jeremy and Jess were forced to find shelter last night. I was encouraged that a line of neighbors showed up last night to offer this or that, and even a place to stay.
As I write this, I don't know if the others were as fortunate. I hope so. I know and like Jeremy and Jess. I don't know their neighbors, but they are our neighbors. They all need our help. Some lost personal property. In the best case scenario they will be washing the smoke out for weeks. They all have to find a new place to live. It's unknown if it is for weeks or months or permanently. What is known is that it housing is an immediate need. If you haven't heard, this is a tough time to rent in Portland.
Can you help by making a contribution? Any amount will help. If you can give $500 please do. If you can only afford $10, please contribute it.
I have asked for a list of needs other than housing the families may have. I will update this with that information and a place to drop it off when we know what is needed.
