Spring's Medical Fund
Donation protected
On Thursday 9/30, Spring came in and was reluctant to put weight on her right hind leg. The vet suspected a suspensory injury, which would likely have been career-ending. By Saturday Spring was completely non-weight-bearing on that leg, and an ultrasound showed fluid in the suspensory area. On Sunday she had spiked a fever despite being on large doses of an anti-inflammatory, and she was started on antibiotics the next day until the vet could come out to see her. Suspecting a condition called lymphangitis, the vet changed her antibiotics and by Tuesday evening her fever finally broke. However, the infection in her leg created a hole overnight that was found when her wraps were removed Wednesday morning, and she had to stay overnight at the vet clinic to receive more intensive care. Although she seems to be on the mend, she will require daily care for some time along with extensive stall rest and rehab. I'm a full time student in nursing school and work part-time at several barn jobs after unexpectedly losing my full-time job last spring. The costs of Spring's vet bills and stall board while she recovers are very high, and paying for her continued recovery will be extremely difficult for me. All donations will go directly to paying for medical supplies (gauze, vet wrap, etc.) and her vet bill. Anything remaining will be used to help pay the difference between her usual pasture board and stall board. Anything helps. Thank you so much for taking the time to read Spring's story, and for any contributions that may be made.
