"A New Chapter" Short Film
Dear friends, we need your help to create A New Chapter, our senior thesis film exploring the beauty and importance of a father's relationship with his daughter.
We are Julia Belser and Haoyii Lim, students at CSU Monterey Bay who are currently working on our undergraduate senior thesis film, A New Chapter.
About the Film:
David comes home one evening to find his young daughter Clara unable to sleep. In an effort to comfort her, he tells a fairy tale story about her mother when she was Clara’s age. Piquing Clara’s interest, David explains how once upon a time she was a little princess who sometimes also felt alone and scared, but also how she overcame those trials. Although fantastical, the story gives Clara security that her mother will always be with her, and she is able to sleep.
Through this film, we wish to capture the beauty and importance of a father’s relationship with his daughter. We also wish to inspire feelings of sadness, empathy, hope, and satisfaction through an immersive world.

About the Creators:
Haoyii Lim - Director / Co-Writer / Sound Designer / Special F(x)
Haoyii is an international student in his fourth year at California State University Monterey Bay as a Cinematic Arts and Technology student. He is passionate about storytelling and has been pursuing his dream of becoming a director in the film industry. He is currently working towards completing his Bachelor's degree in May 2019.

Julia is in her senior year at California State University Monterey Bay and enjoys filmmaking, music, and photography. She hopes to pursue a career in video editing, though she is excited to tackle anything the industry has to throw at her. Currently, she is looking forward to graduating in May 2019 with a degree in Cinematic Arts and Technology.
