Justice for Bobby Barnes

Donation protected
As many of you may already know, my brother Bobby Barnes' life was tragically cut short. In April, he was brutally attacked by a group of adults and youths outside a Sunoco gas station in Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood.

He fought valiantly for seven months, but the injuries he sustained while being punched, kicked and beaten with a hammer, a piece of wood and other objects were too much to overcome.

After emergency brain surgery, he remained in a vegetative state until his Nov. 25 death.

Bobby was a sensitive, kind man with a great sense of humor and a penchant for helping others before helping himself. That kindness extended to homeless people, as well. Bobby's death has left an emptiness within his family and beyond.

While the case against Bobby's attackers remains in the judicial system, we need financial help to defray the costs of his funeral. We also hope that something positive can come from Bobby's death and will soon launch a campaign to provide the homeless in Philadelphia with sneakers and boots as the cold winter months approach.

Any monies raised through this campaign will be used to give Bobby the funeral arrangements befitting a man who was taken from this world unnecessarily at the hands of criminals and to help launch the shoes for the homeless campaign in his honor.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please keep Bobby in your thoughts and prayers.
