Justice for Bobby Barnes

$4,739 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 131 people in 42 months
As many of you may already know, my brother Bobby Barnes' life was tragically cut short. In April, he was brutally attacked by a group of adults and youths outside a Sunoco gas station in Philadelphia's Olney neighborhood.

He fought valiantly for seven months, but the injuries he sustained while being punched, kicked and beaten with a hammer, a piece of wood and other objects were too much to overcome.

After emergency brain surgery, he remained in a vegetative state until his Nov. 25 death.

Bobby was a sensitive, kind man with a great sense of humor and a penchant for helping others before helping himself. That kindness extended to homeless people, as well. Bobby's death has left an emptiness within his family and beyond.

While the case against Bobby's attackers remains in the judicial system, we need financial help to defray the costs of his funeral. We also hope that something positive can come from Bobby's death and will soon launch a campaign to provide the homeless in Philadelphia with sneakers and boots as the cold winter months approach.

Any monies raised through this campaign will be used to give Bobby the funeral arrangements befitting a man who was taken from this world unnecessarily at the hands of criminals and to help launch the shoes for the homeless campaign in his honor.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and please keep Bobby in your thoughts and prayers.

I wish I was there.I would have beat all them "B's" down and their kids. Look at the big punk walking up and not doing anything. He is no man. They need to fry them B's. he didn't do anything. I always tell the truth and tell people why lie. The words you speak is what makes you . Tell the truth. This little boy got a man murdered and his mom that stupid move was on her and the rest of them "B's". Screw that black punk walking up . He should have stopped them. Damn I wish I was there, I would have gladly caught a case

Daniel, that is the stupidest thing I have ever read in my life. Why even bring your sorry racist a** on this page?? This is about a man who lost his life for no reason and your over there spewing racist hate slurs. You sir need to wake up and realize crime/murders have no race. The only thing I can do for you is pray that you realize your racism hatred towards individuals is completely uncalled for and cruel. I'm very sorry for the lost of your brother like this and this racist post on your page.

Diane, It was great to talk with you tonight. I am spreading this to everyone I know- and hope they too donate 1-10-100 dollars. I am donating 10.00 to show them anything counts. We'll look at the donations as they come in- maybe we can help getting the word out and get your family more funds to help during these times. Prayers to you! RIP Mr. Barnes.

Where is Sunoco on this? They should be stepping up... As for the thugs who did this, I can only pray that there is a special place in hell for them....
