Camp Fire Recovery
Donation protected
I have lived in Paradise for 11 years after moving up from the city to enjoy the beautiful mountains, wildlife, streams, lakes, rivers and clean air. I found all that as well as a community full of loving, accepting, and friendly people from the first day I arrived. Since this was my third time being evacuated for fire, I was sure we would be returning to our home off of Neal Road. I was scheduled to teach Kindermusik in ChicoThursday morning, November 8th, but noticed the line of traffic coming up Skyway and leaving town on Skyway at 9 a.m. and quickly returned home. I prayed with my husband for wisdom and guidance from the Lord and then begin packing. We left at 10:20 a.m. heading down Neal Road. We did not experience sparks and flames and zero visibility from smoke as some of my community did, but I often wondered if we were going to be trapped on Neal Road. Instead it moved rather smoothly with stops here and there; taking us about 90 minutes to get down a road that usually takes 10 minutes. We found out at 10:30 Friday night that our home was burned to the ground with nothing left but our rock walkway, steps going up to the house, fireplace and a bed frame. I have made many friends in this community and throughout my lifetime and you have lovingly reached out to me to offer me whatever help you can during this time. I don't like to ask for help and always feel very responsible for whatever I am going through, but since this is such an overwhelming task of starting a brand new chapter in my life and so many of you have offered help, I decided to start this fundraiser page as we will need to find a new place to live locally and furnish it. If you would like to donate towards the purchase new items for our home, I would forever be grateful to you. Thank you all for your loving kindness and generosity.
