Help Precious: needs oral biopsy!

Precious is a very sweet, 1-year-old cat that was rescued several months ago as a scruffy, very skinny stray struggling to survive in the freezing cold. She appeared suddenly in a rural area, far from other homes. She was very friendly and walked right up to the homeowners. She was clearly not one of the local feral cats! This sweet cat was quickly moved into the Cat Shack foster system to receive immediate vet care.

Now, months after her original rescue and MANY vet visits later, a number of health problems were successfully addressed, but one serious issue has not been resolved: Bloody, inflamed gums that are not responding to treatment. Our vets feel that Precious needs a mouth biopsy and possibly full mouth extraction of her teeth as a last option to help her. This painful mouth inflammation is preventing her from being comfortable and it's making it impossible for her to find a real home.

All of her vet care to-date has depleted our emergency vet fund for unusual/unexpected medical issues so we are hoping for help from the Cat Shack's generous supporters. Precious is currently $500 shy of the funds needed to receive what we hope will be the final piece in the puzzle to why we can't seem to "fix" Precious.

Precious has already received treatment for her unusually heavy parasite load, fluids, repeated bloodwork, several rounds of antibiotics, repeated steroid treatments, repeated FeLV/FIV testing, several hospital stays to address her mouth inflammation events, vaccines and her spay surgery.

Although Precious HAS gained weight and has improved in many ways since entering foster care, this sweet cat's mouth symptoms have progressed to the point where she is drooling blood and is in great discomfort. The oral biopsy will help to specifically identify the cause of her extreme inflammation and possibly the full mouth dental extraction will end her discomfort. Julie is under 1-year-old deserves to be free from the daily pain that she is suffering with right now. Please help us to raise the funds for the next steps for this sweet cat.

Precious' original rescuer shared the following thoughts about this sweet cat: "When we found Precious, we so hoped she was a healthy young cat that just needed to find a good home. I named her Precious because right away I could see how precious she is. We live in the country, back a long lane, and were surprised to find an affectionate cat that came right up to my husband and grandson while they were working outside. We are accustomed to seeing feral farm cats that visit our property sometimes, but they run away as soon as they see us. We dont know where Precious came from. We had never seen her before. But even though she was scared and hungry, she was so loving. We fed her and took her to a Cat Shack volunteer in hopes of finding her a good home. But instead, we found a very sick little cat who has been at the vet so many times in the short time since we found her. Please don't give up on this little cat. She's come so far and deserves to find a real home!
