Rylie's "Bad To The Bone" Journey

Donation protected
You may wonder how this all began. The beginning of October, Rylie had an area on her thigh that looked like a pulled muscle. When she showed it to her parents they didn't think much about it and she said it didn't hurt. But after about a week or so they thought it was odd that it was still there and decided to make an appointment with their family doctor. At that appointment it was recommended that she have an ultrasound and x ray so those were scheduled. After the ultrasound and xrays, Rylie went back to school and her mom went to work. And then about an hour later on October 16, her mom got the call that changed their lives.  Her mom was told that there is a large tumor on Rylie's right femur that appears to be in the bone. They scheduled an MRI at Altru Hospital and they had an appointment with a bone specialist that same afternoon. At that appointment Rylie was referred on to the University of Minnesota to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon. Rylie's Biopsy went well. It looks like she has what's called a Giant Cell Tumor, hers is large and very aggressive. Normally they are not cancerous but they can be. They are going to do further testing, so we won't know for sure until the results come back. They told us about a week and we should know.
She will need surgery to remove the tumor and the bone, this will be done at the U of M.  They are scheduling more scans, but they can be done in Grand Forks while they wait for the results. Rylie is on strict limitations until surgery. Can only get up to go to bathroom. Her bone is very weak and brittle, they do not want any chance of breaking it! She is on a pain management schedule. Rylie will need extensive surgery to remove this tumor. I am trying to raise funds for all her and her families medical bills, travel expenses, hotels, gas, loss of wages and what ever else occurs during this time. Rylie's family is so wonderful and they hold a special place in my families hearts and I want to do all I can to help them and I am asking you to please help if you can.
