Barcelona Bound

Between classes, working full time, finances, and acquiring a visa, the process of getting everything in place for my semester abroad has been both exhausting, and fulfilling. Hard work that I know will be rewarding.

At this point, I’ve done everything in my power to make this move as smooth a transition as possible, taking into account daily transportation expenses as well as the currency exchange that is not in my favor. But there was no way to prepare for my school granting a couple thousand less in scholarships this semester than every previous due to their climbing debt and consequent budget cuts.

While I’ve been able to pay the discrepency out of pocket where necessary, I am realizing that I’m still about $1000 behind budget if I want to live a comfortable lifestyle in Spain. (Not flying to a new country each weekend, but more being able to experience new food cuisines rather than being limited to Spanish top ramen.)

So my last resort is to ask my friends and family for help. If you have a $5 you can pass my way to fund a young female student abroad, I will be truly thankful.

$5-$24: I’ll send you a post card!
$25-$50: I’ll bring you back a keychain or bracelet!
$50+: I‘ll find a small little trinket-y item with you in mind.

And if you can’t/don’t want to offer money, I am always accepting prayers and well wishes.

Maryjo.
