SOS! SUPPORT OUR SENSORY ROOM @ ECC
Donation protected
We are Alexa and Cate - a Recreational Therapist and an Occupational Therapist. We work here at the Episcopal Center for Children. The Center is a private, non-profit, non-denominational day treatment facility for emotionally troubled children and their families from the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. The program is designed for children between the ages of five to thirteen. The goal of our treatment, therapeutic milieu, and individualized special education program is to enable each child to function productively within the family, school and community.
Our goal is to provide the students with a comforting place with multiple sources of calming sensory input. This will be available to them when they are feeling overhwhelmed. The money will be used to purchase sensory equipment such as soft lighting, soothing auditory input, aromatherapy, and comfortable spaces to lounge. Currently a space like this does not exist here. Knowing the impact sensory processing and regulation has on this population, this room will undoubtedly benefit our children! Thank you for your contribution! This will be an amazing resource for students and staff.
