Adopt-a-Family for Christmas
Donation protected
"What do you want for Christmas?" Simple question. However, for some, it's not that simple. Buying Christmas presents may mean the electric bill does not get paid or not enough groceries are bought. Many families do not have that option - Christmas is a luxury they cannot afford.
These families are not hidden away somewhere 1/2 a world away - they are here in our communities in Rhode Island. They are your neighbors, the person who hands you your morning coffee, the student who sits next to your child in school. These are not people who want to "work" the system - they have jobs - they are trying their best, but just don't seem to make enough to provide for their family in this tough economy.
This is where we can help! The Taste of Heaven Ministry run through Phillips Baptist Church adopts these families and helps them provide gifts for their families during the holiday season.
What kind of gifts you may ask? Each family is asked what they need, as well as what they would like - NEEDS - a winter jacket or winter boots, winter clothes, hats, gloves, comforter or sheets for their bed, pots and pans to cook with, baby clothes and diapers, pajamas, underwear - NEEDS - simple things we take for granted every day.
We also provide wants - new toys, gift cards to grocery stores or gas cards, books, games, gift cards for fun activities - Launch, Showcase Cinemas, Dave & Busters. We do focus on the children - it makes my heart sad to think of any child not having something to open on Christmas morning - but the guardian of the kids; whether it be parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, are also included.
You hear people all the time say "every little bit helps" or "it doesn't take alot to make a big difference". It is TRUE! Your donation does not have to be alot in order to help and it makes such a difference in these families lives - not just for Christmas - but throughout the year.
If you provide your name & address, Taste of Heaven will be happy to send you a charitable donation letter you can use for your taxes.
Please Please Please consider donating!
Thank you!
