Since moving to its temporary site after the flood that destroyed the old facility, the 300+ current QAWS animals have been housed in converted shipping containers and a large donated tent, with everything running from a rented generator.
Now the Summer has arrived, the rental cost for the generator & air conditioning units and the cost of diesel to run them all has become astronomical and as such, QAWS can no longer afford to continue running the shelter and will have to close imminently.
We urgently need help with funding the shelter so it can stay open and continue helping animals in need. Monthly outgoings are over QR75,000 a month and with the recent loss of most of our corporate sponsors, we are finding it impossible to raise the funds needed every month.
Please help us keep QAWS open and a roof over the 300 animal's heads. Every single donation will go a long way to helping cover our monthly costs, with our main outgoings being equipment rental and diesel to allow us electricity and air conditioning for our animals and staff.
Other monthly outgoings include vet bills, pet food, cleaning supplies, water, farm animal feed & hay etc. We are contacted about dozens of animals needing help every single day and we are sadly unable to take any more animals in until we are more secure with our future.
We understand the current economical climate is affecting all those involved in rescue in Qatar and we have endeavoured to manage without asking for assistance from our supporters but now the Summer weather has forced us to bring in Industrial air conditioning units for our dog tent, our costs have increased beyond our reach.
