Red Tide Relief
Red Tide FAQ - Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission
Red Tide Current Status - Florida Fish 7 Wildlife Conservation Commission
The RED TIDE of 2018 is being called "The Worst Toxic Algae Bloom in Years." The Red Tide Phenomenon is not new to the Gulf of Florida with the first case being documented as far back as 1840's. The Red Tide of 2018, however is one of the worst seen in Florida's history. DIVE FOR A CAUSE INC. is a Non-Profit 501 (c)(3) organization that has partnered with some friends in Tampa to provide RED TIDE RELIEF right here on the Gulf Coast of Florida, but we need YOUR help. Research proves the oysters are excellent at clearing water, in fact ONE adult oyster can clean 50 gallons of water a day!! Dive For A Cause wants to introduce massive amounts of oysters in to the gulf coast waters in an effort to clean this red tide with nature. The red tide is destroying our beaches with dead ocean life making the beaches barren. Coastal businesses from restaurants to dive shops and even the backyards of our homes have been decimated with the inability to enjoy our waters. Our organization with the help of volunteers, and donations will help in our efforts to obtain oysters and take our boats and introduce oyster beds in our gulf cost waters to combat this Red Tide. We believe that with the help of our community and our volunteers we can introduce these oysters so that they can immediately start to help combat this algae bloom.
