Help save Milkshake!
Shes our three year old Catahoula Leopard dog-Labrador mix we rescued from Orphans of the Storm as just a pup. Our family is lost without her!

This morning Milkshake was suddenly paralyzed and in tremendous pain.  We rushed her to the nearest vet, Banfield,  and they referred us to PVSEC on Camp Horne Road for an emergency neurology consult.  She was urgent so we went straight into the emergency room. They believed the pain and sudden loss of her legs was directly related to her spinal cord so performed X-rays and an MRI.

Mum was beside herself waiting for information and not being able to see or hold Milkshake and comfort her!

Two of Milkshakes discs ruptured. They ruptured so violently, the debris spread out over a length of 4 vertebrae, like shrapnel.
So far, there is a lot of spinal cord bruising and damage  and even after surgery we are looking at an extensive and lengthy recovery. Milkshake's hind legs are currently  still paralyzed,  and she is in a severe amount of pain. She's such a good girl and a sensitive soul. She needs to be home with her family. She is one of our 6 rescue dogs nd has made such an impact on our lives. My brother is  autistic and Milkshake is his rock. She gives him so much love and comfort he would be truly lost without her. She is his best friend. She has brought so much joy to our family I cannot picture life without her.

Milkshake shows signs that she still feels deep tissue pain, so there's hope! Dr. Mikoloski  will fenestrate some of the discs and clean the debris out. She believes Milkshake will recover most if not all use of her hind legs again.

Without emergency surgery Milkshake will continue to be painfully paralyzed, and our only other option would be to "humanely euthanize" her.  Shes just a baby! She's so full of life and love, how can we just give up on her? We can't!
The hospital costs are overwhelming and not within our reach. Please help us bring Milkshake home. Her family needs her. Please help to restore her to the happy 3-year-old she once was. She means so much to my brothers and sisters and her rescue siblings (even our 3 rescue cats that she likes to "honk" at). This is the first time since we brought her home from the shelter that she's not
laying next to us.

Please- any support would mean the world to our family. Milkshake means the world to us and we are not ready to let her go
