My name is Yessenia Luna. I’m 19 years old, and I have Cerebral Palsy. I recently applied to participate in the Ms. Wheelchair USA program! I just found out that I was accepted to represent not only my home, in Cypress, Texas but the entire Coast Region! I am thrilled to be able to have this opportunity, and be a part of this amazing organization! In July, I am going to Ohio as a finalist to compete for the national title of Ms. Wheelchair USA 2018-2019!
I want to participate in Ms. Wheelchair USA because I want to show people that any individual can impact our society positively, regardless of their physical ability. With the title of Ms. Wheelchair USA, I plan to help individuals with disabilities and low incomes to obtain the special equipment that will assist them in their daily lives. I strongly believe that every individual with a disability should be able to have the special equipment they need to live a quality life. Their economic status should not hinder them in any way! I plan to work with YOU CAN DO Anything to help meet these needs. This online interactive site allows collaboration, exploration, learning, communication and even shopping for everyone, especially those who have disabilities. As a titleholder, I want to make sure that I am a voice for children and others with disabilities, raising awareness that there is a need and hopefully, my efforts will increase supports to provide the equipment that individuals cannot purchase for themselves. I hope my efforts as Ms. Wheelchair Gulf Coast USA and ultimately Ms. Wheelchair USA will help provide the necessary resources and tools that all individuals with disabilities need to help them have an equal opportunity in life.
Participating in this national program has some expenses that I hope you will help me pay! I need to raise funds to cover my national entry fee, hotel, travel, food, transportation, pageant clothing, etc. For this reason, I am asking you to donate or sponsor me in this endeavor. This will help to cover these expenses so I can compete at Ms. Wheelchair USA and use the title to promote my work for people with disabilities! I am truly grateful for any amount that you can donate! Your contribution will help me to accomplish my goal of becoming the next Ms. Wheelchair USA!
