Hi! I’m Nathalie Johnston, co-founder of Pyinsa Rasa and the only member with a US bank account, hence my being the spokesperson and organizer for this Go Fund Me campaign for our art project in Yangon. All funds will be transferred to me, Nathalie Johnston, and I will in turn deliver them to the Pyinsa Rasa project from the Go Fund Me campaign.

We are Pyinsa Rasa. A group of 9 artists and organizers  living in Yangon, Myanmar. Our project benefits the public of Yangon, from all walks of life.

Our collective in Yangon was founded in order to create a  permanent cultural space for this quickly expanding city. Our Pyinsa Rasa Art Space at The Secretariat is just the first step.

Support us to run public programming in this historic space, formerly the Minster's Building, from March to July 2018.

These funds are needed urgently, in order to start the program in the coming month.

Pyinsa Rasa Art Space will show Yangon how a building with so much history can become a space for the public, for art, music, film and fun for the whole family.

Funding goes towards public programming like puppet shows, children's activities, major exhibitions with local artists, film screenings, and music concerts. We have to pay to set up the space, transport art works, hire security, provide facilities, and write and translate interesting and educational texts for the public. This is how your money will be spent and we will account for every dollar.

We love Yangon and we want this city to be a destination for people all over the region. We believe the people of Yangon deserve access to their buildings, and it is our job to provide them with a cultural space to enrich their daily lives.

Your support means so much to us, and even more to young people, who are eager for change in their city.

Thank you for your generosity. You are supporting the arts in Yangon and empowering creativity and free thinking in Myanmar.

THANK YOU! We will be contacting you regarding your gifts and thank you treats. We appreciate your patience as we got this off the ground.

Please contact Nathalie or this page for any specific questions.

Last February, we were granted the unique chance to create a pop-up Art Gallery in the heart of Yangon’s most iconic building by the Secretariat Conservation Group and the Yangon Regional Government. We proposed then a six-month programming of exhibitions, concerts, screenings and talks promoting Myanmar Art.

We are proud beyond words of what we have accomplished in this historic space since February 2018 and wish to thank all of you for your support and attendance.

We truly feel we have broken ground in the relationship between the people of Yangon and The Secretariat building and we are extremely grateful for the challenge and opportunity.

Thanks to the Secretariat Conservation Group, the staff and the security, our time in The Secretariat space was possible. We are glad to have built a strong relationship with the management team and look forward to working again together in the future.

We wanted to thank our partners who helped us make this program a reality thanks to their generous support: French Embassy in Myanmar / Ambassade de France en Birmanie, Xenon Company Limited, M.ID - M.Interiors Design, PRO AV SHOP and the individual donors who contributed to this project. We are also very greatful of the technical support of Axiao Jiang and his team as well as our great team of Pyinsa Rasa Volunteers.

Thank you to all the artists who supported the project and participated to our events and exhibitions.

As we have come to a natural end to our time at the Pyinsa Rasa Art Space, having achieved every project we set out to complete and more, we will close and vacate the space for the coming months.

Pyinsa Rasa will be back with more projects to serve the artistic community and the general public in the future. Thanks once again to all of you for your support and encouragement.

Thank you all so much for your support! Our original goal of 5000 USD is a tiny part of the entire program's budget, so we are increasing our limit, in order to cover more programs over more months. We have had such an overwhelming response thus far, we would like to keep it up!
