M.A Thesis on Public Lands

Hi, my name is Maggie, I’m working on my MA thesis project about public lands at the University of Montana. This body of work is focusing on showing a visual representation of public land users. I’m looking at different user groups; from hunters, to hikers, foragers, and everything in between, but all having one thing in common, which is as a public we are all owners, and with that ownership comes the responsibility to keep these lands healthy and there for future generations.

I’m in need of funding to create prints for my thesis show and travel to photograph public land users in other states to bring more awareness for the protection of our public lands.

Artist Statement: "My objective in this body of work is to create a photo campaign that focuses on the users of public land. Throughout the United States and particularly the West, public lands make up a large portion of each state, and are a vital, reusable, renewable resource that anyone can use. These lands are currently at risk of being sold off or given to state control, which could mean shutting off use to the public. My goal for this work is to make an impact visually on the publics perspective of the people who use these lands."
