Greetings Everyone
here is what Oyugih had to say about his Peace Clubs.
About my peace project-
As the country prepares for General Election each 5 years, schools, like the rest of the society, face challenges on how to ensure students remain united.
This stems from the fact that most students were affected by the post-election violence. Some of them are still nursing the wounds, especially those whose parents live in areas considered hot spots. so many of these areas like where i was living it was hard hit by election violence. This forced many of the families to flee to areas perceived to be safe.

I came up with the programme idea after the 2016 elections in the area to curb repeat of such events and enhance integration in schools and at streets.
The programme is Strategies for Peace, Film. Art, Education and Development , which is spearheaded by my group pause N play music. The initiative is a mentor ship programme targeting Street kids,Primary schools kids.
Some of the topics discussed include negative ethnicity and how to curb it in school, home and society. “This helps them to accept each other’s ethnic background and culture,
We targeted schools, homes, because kids are more likely to accept change and take the message to respective communities.’’ Besides debating on issues relating to cohesion, club members make some who are interested in art, film, music we try and make them engage in positive film for change program like peace songs we have been creating. also have streets screening with positive films to show other kids, also hold games and discussions around other kids in the communities.
The movement started from home and now trying to forward the concept to schools and has spread into 2 schools around.
Regards
Oyugih
