PS 290Q, A.C.E Academy is a public elementary school that serves over 500 Pre-K through 5th grade scholars in Ridgewood, Queens, New York City.
Our school vision is to provide scholars with an interdisciplinary education that builds up their confidence, problem solving skills and critical thinking skills in order to provide every scholar with the tools that they need to succeed.
To prepare our scholars for higher education, our rigorous academic curriculum teaches mathematics, arts, sciences, reading, writing, music, technology, and global connections.
At PS 290Q, we are fortunate to have outstanding administration, amazing teachers, and dedicated support staff. We even have a new school building.
What we are missing is: A FUN AND STIMULATING PLACE FOR OUR SCHOLARS TO PLAY!
Our school building was constructed in 2014 but the planners only built a small playground structure behind the school which is suited for use by our 4 year old scholars. Our large front yard is asphalt and empty.
We are asking for your donations in order to be able to purchase an Imagination Playground starter kit.
Imagination Playground is an innovative playground equipment system that transforms any space — schools, children's museums, parks and recreation, daycare centers, camps, hospitals, churches — into a play space that encourages learning, social development, movement, and above all fun.
Using Imagination Playground blocks, kids build a new world every day. They make objects like animals, rocket ships, and robots. They make imaginary places like houses, factories, and cities. They make new dramatic scenarios, settings, and games to play. Most important, they make the rules. Because Imagination Playground is child-directed and open-ended, it encourages self-expression through deep, joyful play.
We are asking community members, like you, for a charitable donation in order to purchase a basic starter set for our scholars. Because this equipment is portable, we are also intending to use it indoors during the winter months as well.
We would be greatful if you could make a donation to our school PTA to help us implement this project.
