Our campaign through the; In The Spirit of Giving Foundation™, Protecting Those * Protecting Us™, is contributing back to police officers, like Officer Christopher Matlosz. In The Spirit of Giving Foundation™ is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization that looks to enhance the communities where we live, learn, and work. The; In The Spirit of Giving Foundation™, Protecting Those * Protecting Us™ campaign would like to implement Ballistic Resistant Systems™ (BRS™) in police cars.

Five years ago, a young Lakewood police officer, Christopher Matlosz, switched his overnight shift to the evening shift. One day, Officer Matlosz was cruising down August Drive in Lakewood, NJ, when he saw a suspicious young man standing on the side of the road. He remained in his patrol car while calmly questioning the young man. Unfortunately, the calm questioning erupted. The young man pulled the trigger and shot Officer Matlosz three times.

The rotation ofthe chopper blades above and the constant blaring of the sirens from other patrol cars and ambulances alluded to the enormity of what had taken place. An always appreciative community lives on today, driven to further coherence, unified in agreement, and inspired by the message of life, a leading example of what the virtuous Lakewood has to offer. Officer Matlosz’s presence is profoundly missed, but his legacy will live on, and continue to be an inspiration for us all.

Officer Matlosz expended every day to attempt to make an influence, to make Lakewood a better place for the community. Our campaign would like to do the same!

The Ballistic Resistant System™ (BRS™) is designed inside the doors of standard Municipal and State police vehicles. It is intended for an elevated level of protection with a simplistic installation at a low cost. The Ballistic Resistant System™(BRS™) entails a network of panels that can be installed by anyone that has a general knowledge of hand tools. They are installed within the interior of the vehicle door panels, thus hidden from sight and do not interfere with the inner mechanics or appearance of the door. By executing the 44 round test, sending 44 bullets into an average police door, it is distinct that this system offers protection up to up to a .44 Magnum bullet.
