Prom For A Purpose
Donation protected
Hey there! My name is Julienne Candelaria and I'm a Grade 12 student at Francis Libermann CHS of the TCDSB. In December of 2015 I was blessed with a wonderful opportunity to go on a service trip to the Philippines where I, 14 students and 3 teachers helped build houses for the less fortunate. This trip has inspired me to take further action and which is why I created this campaign. I want to continue to "Be The Change" and I hope you too can be a part of this change.

Prom is considered one of the most special nights in high school where everyone looks their best for the pictures and have a nice dinner and dance. Through this campaign, I hope to give Prom a more meaningful reason. #P4AP or Prom for a Purpose is a campaign to raise money for ANCOP (Answering the Cry Of the Poor) in the Philippines. This campaign gives a deeper meaning to Prom while giving back to the community at a larger scale. The money raised will be used towards sending children to school in the Philippines. These children would otherwise be unable to afford an education. If the goal of $5000 is reached then I will wear an embarrassing outfit to Prom (TBD something like a funny costume, paper bag or burlap sack). A poll will be taken place at a further date to decide what I will wear.
Along with this there are mini-goals as listed below:
→ $500 (Drink disgusting smoothie on video/live stream)
→ $1000 (Eat Balut on video/live stream)
→$1500 ( Walk around STC in a costume, possibly a hotdog costume)
→ $2500 (Cut my hair shoulder length-will be donated)
→ $4000 (Shave side of my head)
→ $4500 (Add crocs to the embarrassing prom outfit)
→ $5000 (Wear Embarrassing Prom Outfit TBD)
(Challenges may be added, if you have any ideas let me know!)
If we can give even just one child access to education the possibilities and opportunities for them are endless. Given the chance they can learn and develop ideas we might not have even thought of.

Students and teachers of the TCDSB have put their faith into action every year since 2010 in the Philippines but also in places like Tanzania, Kenya, India, and Ghana. This trip has changed my perspective on life and has taught me that we are blessed with what we have, not just materialistically but our community. Building relationships with the village communities has taught me that relationships last longer than any material item you may have. It's important to build a strong bond with the people in your community. I hope this campaign can bring the community closer together and further educate others on issues going on around the world.

Anyone and everyone is encouraged to support not just through donation but through participation! The more the people involved the better, so if you would like to get involved by taking part in any of these challenges with me or have any questions feel free to contact me:
