Project Legacy: STX Royal Rangers

$168,366 of $250,000 goal

Raised by 276 people in 46 months
Project Legacy was birthed from a vision to establish a permanent campground and event facility that will enable South Texas Royal Rangers to work with more boys than ever, more effectively than ever.   Our goal is to intentionally purchase and develop an outdoor adventure and activity center to host a broad range of events.  These events would include camps, training for men and boys and leadership retreats that could host 1,000+ attendees.

Events and outdoor experiences are one of the most powerful tools Royal Rangers uses.  These experiences range from small-group activities to camps with attendance in the thousands that focus on adventure and outdoor excitement.

Currently, we operate each of our events at privately-owned land that is generously donated to us by like-minded individuals.  While this is a tremendous blessing to our organization, our events have simply outgrown the facilities that we have the ability to borrow.

South Texas Royal Rangers is a mentoring program for future men.  Our program is centered around capable and well-trained leaders intentionally mentoring the next generation in a highly relational and fun environment.

Please consider partnering with us to establish and develop a property that will allow us to more effectively fulfill our mission!

Today has been designated as Giving Tuesday across America where individuals are encouraged to donate to a charity or non-profit of their choice and invest back into the lives of someone else. Whether it's $10, $25, $50 or more, together our gifts make a big difference.

We ask you to join more than 200 others and consider Project Legacy and Camp Williams on this day as a way to invest in the next generation.

Camp Williams is place for campers to experience adventure and encounter the Lord! So far in 2016, we have hosted more than 2,000 people at Camp Williams and expect many more in 2017.

We have used the funds donated this year to build a permanent stage for services, extend electric to the middle of the property, build a permanent grill to serve 800-1,000, purchase a storage/concessions building and a diesel-powered Kubota RTV that has been extremely useful working around the property.

In 2017, the camp will host the 50th South Texas Powwow and more than 800 attendees are expected, including international and out-of-state guests. A host of other groups and events will also be held and there is no shortage of projects to be completed to better serve their needs.

2017 projects include:

- Extending electrical to stage/campsites
- Extending water to campsites
- Completing shooting sports range construction
- Clearing underbrush to expand camping areas
- Continued treatment of sod and soil to soften grasses and deter the spread of insects

Thank you for being a part of what God is did through Project Legacy in 2016 and what He will do in 2017 through your support!

Today marks 1 year since we closed on the property that became Camp Williams! Project Legacy has contributed over $153,000 to Camp Williams in an effort to establish a ministry center for South Texas Royal Rangers to mentor future men and train leaders to do the same. Take a minute to celebrate what God has done in and through the last 12 months at Camp Williams!

PROJECT UPDATE: We are currently working to spread electrical and water supply throughout the property into the stage/services and camping areas. To do so will take an estimated $20,000. We've raised about $5,000 towards making that goal a reality. This project is critical to allow us to hold services without the use of temporary and noisy generator power. It will also make the experience for campers much more pleasant.

It's been a busy start to the year at Camp Williams! We've already hosted two workdays so far and have completed a great deal of cleanup and other projects that needed taking attention before the large events of the year begin.

Work began on the permanent stage at the services site, shelving has begun being built in the metal storage barn and barbed-wire fencing has been removed from several spots to make camp more open and accessible. Underbrush clearing near the house and services area was also successful.

The first FCF Spring Trace/Adventure held at Camp Williams took place this past week during some of the most beautiful days a Texas spring can provide.

Camp Williams has the following immediate/short-term needs:

- Around $1,000 are still lacking to fully fund the stage and shelving in the barn.
- A commercial-grade finishing mower to prepare campsites, services area and grove near the house.
- Funds to extend the road leading into the camping areas to provide better and more stable access. We will add additional roads as funding allows.

Thank you for your continued support of Project Legacy and Camp Williams. Together, we are making a difference!

When looking back on 2015, we see how God used hundreds of individuals and churches to make Camp Williams a reality and prayers that spanned 5 decades were answered!

We can't let the year end without saying a big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed financially, prayed with us or spread the word about Project Legacy!

As we move in to 2016, there is still work to be done! There are a host of immediate improvements that need to be made to Camp Williams before Powwow 2016 in April including creation of roads, clearing of underbrush to create additional camping areas and more. Your continued monthly and one-time support is key in allowing these critical projects to be completed so that more boys and men can connect with God.

Special Note: Those wishing to give during 2015 must do so by 11:59 PM on 12/31/2015 to claim credit for 2015 (All donations to Project Legacy are tax-deductible).
