PROJECT HOPE

Donation protected
Project Hope is a charity commited to helping those patients that are financially disadvanataged. When pet parents cannot afford treatments, it can lead to some extremely difficult desicions, leaving financially disadvantaged owners with a sense of letting their pet down, despite years of a strong bond together. Here at Southern Cross, we want to give every patient hope.

With this charity we aim to provide top qualtiy treatments and a high standard of care to those patients that come from a vulnerable background, enabling them to live long and healthy lives.

BJ is our most recent Project Hope case. He came to us after catching his feet in escalators. All four paws were affected!  He needed major surgery and some intensive treatment to return to full health. Unfortunately, his parents were homeless and could not afford the veterinary bills. It was an emotional time for his parents, so Project Hope came to the rescue. They were so thankful for the charity to ensure that their fur baby was fully looked after.

Project Hope not only aims to care for those pets living on the street but also those in public housing. Recently, Dr Kovac treated an animal from a George St, Redfern public housing tower who presented with renal failure. Dr Kovac knew that the only way to save the dog’s life was to put him on a drip that the owner could not afford.

“We were able to pull some money together and the dog received the treatment necessary,” he says. “These people are used to being sent from pillar to post and often avoid vets as they don’t think they will be helped without adequate funds.”

We want to raise as much money as possible in order to give hope to as many patients as possible! Losing your home is one of the worst situations to be in, let alone losing your pet as well. Our clinic is a family and we strive to give the best service to everyone, even those in a poor financial situation.

Southern Cross Veterinary Clinic pledges to commit one dollar for every dollar the public and clients of the clinic contribute into this fund, in order to alleviate the burden on struggling families.
