Welcome to Project 87, an independent robotics project with the goal of creating affordable human-sized, anthropomorphic robots.
Typically, people have associated humanoid robots with two things: expensive costs, and frightening "Terminator-like" machines. Our goal is simple - make robots friendly and affordable. Our robots are social, just as people are, and are designed to coexist with humans in completing tasks (and enjoying life in general).
By anthropomorphizing robots in design, we eliminate the element of fear people commonly associate with them, and better allow for a social connection with them.
Each robot costs around $9500 CAD for materials, hardware, and other required components. That's exceptional, considering their capabilities!
Speech recognition, machine vision and facial recognition as well as the ability to perform basic human tasks (walking, using hands and arms, etc.), are just some of the capabilities of our robots! Soon enough, a person (or even another robot) will be able to socialize with one one of these robots.
