Project3713: Safety Valve #1

Project3713, the partnership to restore Boston & Maine steam locomotive #3713 at the Steamtown National Historic Site, is raising $3,800 for the purchase of a new safety valve. We will need three of these in total to complete the locomotive.

Each safety valve costs $3,800.

This GoFundMe campaign is for the first of the three valves.

About Project3713:

Project3713 is a partnership between the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Railway Historical Society and the National Park Service . Project3713, via the “America’s LocomotiveTM” campaign has taken on the task of raising half of the remaining $1.4 million dollars required to finish the restoation to full operating condition. The balance will be provided by #3713's owner, the National Park Service.

After more than 50 years in retirement, #3713 (named “The Constitution” during her service on the B&M) will return to passenger service thanks to the financial support of individuals and corporations who share an appreciation for the rich history of American railroads.
