Hi, thanks for coming to visit my page.

My name is Conor Carey, i am 45 years young. I am Married with 2 adorable kids, Aimee Rose 7 and Michael 4.

I live in a small village in Inishowen, Co Donegal, Ireland. I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis when my little boy was 6 months old, which came as a complete shock to me and my family. It took a while for it to sink in.

PPMS Symptoms differ greatly for each of us that have this Neurological Disease. This is because as our Myelin(coating on spine) corrode lesions form, they form on the Brain & the Spine. When many different lesions appear more areas of the nervous system are affected. This is why PPMS is so unpredictable. Ideally we all want to slow down the progression of this disease which is why i am undertaking this big challenge to help for research for MS International and to contribute to MS Donegal. I Personally don’t want to go down the road of Disease Modifying Drugs to help slow down the progression as the these drugs also come with side effects that I don’t want to have to deal with. I choose to take the advice of my Neurologist - Use it, Or Lose It - and decided to dramatically change my whole outlook on life going forward from diagnosis.

Since then I have been eating MUCH greener, keeping my physical & mental state in great shape via a vigorous exercise regime and kept those factors that affect progression to an absolute minimum. ‌In my most recent brain and spinal scan and thankfully there have been no progression since last one. Okay I’m not going to get rid of my leg drop and my walking issues, brain fog, physical & mental exhaustion I experience, leg spasms and weakness but I am definitely going to give it my best shot at staying out of a wheelchair. I have my strong family & friends behind me to give me all the encouragement I could ever hope for.

On June 16th, I'm taking part in one of the world's toughest cycling challenges, the Cykelnerven. Cykelnerven is known as Europe’s most unique and challenging charity cycling event. I'll be riding 355km over the toughest mountain climbs of this year’s Tour de France. I'm taking part in the Cykelnerven to raise money for the International Fund for Research into Progressive MS and my local Donegal Multiple Sclerosis branch as all monies collected will go to help MS sufferers. I am the first Irish person with Progressive MS to take part in this event. Although living with MS is challenging, but I remain positive and enjoy life as much as I can. I have a strong faith and loving support and HOPEFULLY a cure for this terrible disease is right around the corner.

Please join me for this worthwhile cause by contributing to my page. Every little helps.

Thanks for showing your support and coming to visit my page.

Have A Nice Day.
