Help save Ollie dog's leg

Ollie is 10 year old Terrier/German Shepherd cross with the mental age and energy of a 5 year old. He will play fetch ball all day long and only stop when you do. He has been a part of our family since we adopted him at the age of one from a dog rescue centre. He has watched our two children come into the world and has played a big part in their lives. Ollie craves affection and attention 24/7 and to be honest drives us absolutely nuts sometimes. But we still love him very much!
Last weekend everything went really bad for Ollie while we were out on a family walk. Ollie was running and jumping around at full throttle like he normally does when he ran over a cattle grid without seeing it. I’m sure I don’t need to explain in detail what happened next! I have never seen my dog or any other dog in so much pain and hope I never have to again.
Ollie has a double fracture on his front left leg which needs to be pinned and plated at an estimated cost of £2500-£3000 another option is to have it amputated but we are we desperately trying to avoid this option, either way they both come at a premium.
The reason for our plea for funding is that Ollie is not insured; this is not an oversight or not bothering. Until two years ago he was however, Ollie has had other injury claims in the past and this, along with his age, is making him uninsurable or only at an extortionate premium. So basically and we have got to find the funds ourselves. Normally this would not be too much of a problem and we would scrape the money together somehow, but to add insult to injury my wife was made redundant the week before Ollie’s accident so every penny we have has to be carefully counted.
