Preston’s Priceless Smile

On December 10th, 2018 Preston experienced something that anyone in the homeless services profession would describe as their worst nightmare. He was severely assaulted by one the clients he so graciously helped get into supportive housing that was suffering from severe mental health issues. Preston was brutally beaten and had to be hospitalized and undergo reconstructive surgery of his jaw. For those of you who know Preston, you know he is the guy who always has a huge smile on his face and is always ready to advocate for those who’s voices aren’t heard. His attacker is awaiting sentencing in the Harris County jail but Preston hopes this individual will receive the mental health services he so desperately needs. Since the assault, Preston has been the most resilient human being you can imagine and only missed two weeks of work! He continues to visit clients in their apartments and frequent encampments with more passion and concern than he’s ever had. Preston's spirit is unwavering and he has been such an inspiration to us all during such difficult times. The one thing Preston is missing is his teeth. Due to the extensive damage, Preston was left with only a few teeth. The few teeth that are left will need to be removed and he will have to undergo another surgery to put bone graft in his jaw as well as the final surgery to put his implants in. Permanent dental implants are wildly expensive and there isn’t a guarantee that insurance or workers comp will pay for this. Dental Implants are the only option for Preston because of the injuries he’s sustained. All Preston wants is to have his smile back. Please help in any way you are able.
