Presto Fairy Tales: The Web series

Hello, world. We're Presto! Fairy Tales.  We are a brand new independent musical web series based in Houston, Texas. We started with a simple premise: what if we took some of the lesser-known stories from throughout fairy tale-dom--those that have played second (or third or fourth) fiddle to the Cinderellas and Rapunzels and Beauty & the Beasts of the world--and bring them to the forefront? What if, through these stories, we embraced everything that's weird and wonderful about a genre that many consider somewhat stale and trite? What if we flavored the whole thing with some fantastically catchy punk-rock influenced musical theatre-style numbers? And what if we could bring together some of the best in local talent to bring it all to life?  By this point, we realized our simple premise was no longer "simple," but it was definitely something that had the potential to be awesome, and we committed to see it through to its completion.

And the ride. Has. Been. Amazing.

We are set to launch five brand new mini-musicals on YouTube this fall, free for all to enjoy anytime, anywhere. We've assembled a phenomenal cast from all corners of the loacal theatre scene. We've augmented traditional storytelling with theatricality, movie magic, rap battling, puppet shows, talking purses, and enchanted wheelbarrows. We've experienced support and encouragement from some of the most talented folks around. And we've built a project that encourages viewers young and old to take action, pursue their dreams, and change the world around them for the better. (The point of the story, after all, is rarely the Happy Ending, but everything you've got to go through to get there!)

And we could use some help getting to the finish line.

As we are wrapping up production and heading into post-production, we are staring at trademark and copyright fees that are more than a little daunting. In addition, we have done as much of the work "in house" as possible to keep costs down, but the final mixing and mastering is a process that is just beyond our capabilities. Our core team has thrown significant time, energy, and money into this project to make it a success, but we are reaching a point where we may not be able to carry the weight alone any longer.

We hope you'll consider helping us meet these last few financial hurdles. EVERY little bit helps. We are looking forward to launching this project which, we hope, will continue to send some light, joy, and encouragement for years to come into a world that seems to grow increasingly jaded and divided by the day. We hope to build something that will continue to offer local talent an opportunity to stretch their wings and show what they can do to the world. And we are excited to bring many, many more of these relatively unknown gems into the public consciousness. But first, we could use a little help getting through that first door :-)
