My niece Kali Shultz is home for the summer after completing her first year of college on a softball scholarship at Brenau University.  On May 20th 2018 she suffered a traumatic brain Injury while skate boarding. Since then she has been in the nuero ICU unit at Gwinnett Medical Center where she has already had one brain surgery to remove her cranial bone plate to help reduce swelling in her brain and abdominal surgery to correct a feeding tube leakage. She has remained somewhat sedated while her injuries have time to heal. She has a long road ahead of her but we are confident God will perform his miracle and she will make a complete recovery. In the mean time we want to make this road a little less difficult to walk by creating this page.  Both my brother, and sister in law have served our communities, and country most of their lives in the military and in public safety.  If you know my brother then you know setting something up like this is not easy when you are used to saving everyone else, but for once I want to help save him and his family any undue burdens. We know this won’t make Kali recover any faster because that is in God’s hands, this will help relieve some of the worry of unexpected medical costs and expenses that are unforeseen right now.

We appreciate any amount you are able to donate, but most importantly we will accept prayers instead if you are not able to donate. We ask you to keep Kali lifted in prayers as we know this will bring her home to a full recovery.

Thank you to all!

Thanks to all who have donated to help with Kali’s gofundme page. She is currently recovering at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta and has made huge strides to get back to where she was. She still has a long way to go with many more weeks and months of therapy to help her regain some of her mental and motor functions. We continue to ask for donations for additional therapies and unexpected medical costs that insurance will not cover. Thank you and God bless.

Kali is well on her way to recovery with all the prayers and support we have received. She is very close to being discharged from the ICU and transported to CHOA (Scottish Rite hospital) for inpatient rehab. Kali still has a long unforeseen road ahead with lots of unknowns. Thank you all for your donations to her gofundme page. We humbly ask that if you have already donated to please continue to pray for her and to pass along and share this with your family, friends, coworkers, church family and anyone else who would be willing to donate to help with the unforeseen medical/ treatment expenses. Thank you all again and god bless.

Hi All!

Alot has happened this week I wanted to fill you in on. To start the physical and occupational therapist came in to start working with Kali. They helped her sit up on edge of bed began to work with her on wiping her mouth and brushing her teeth. She was also taken off the ventilator. Making strides but as we know it's a marathon not a sprint. Then she went on to have her cranial bone flap replaced in hopes this would help from having to put in a shunt so pray that this works!

I was at the hospital today and this time she was wide a wake but very stimulated by all the visitors and few things hooked to her that I am sure are not so comfortable. I was trying to make her comfortable because they had just changed her and all. I noticed her SGT fuzzy bear was no where to be seen. I said out loud to Belinda where is SGT Fuzzy? Kali took her arm and pointed(It's restrained with a glove) but sure enough the bear was hidden behind a big wedge like pillow where she directed me to. :)

We are very humbled that Elite Sports where Kali trained and took hitting lessons over the years have made a shirt for Kali that you can order and a portion of the proceeds $5 will go to Praying for Kali donation account. Spread the word!

Thank you all for the love, support and prayers!

Hi All

Kali still has an infection from where the feeding tube came loose. They are treating this with antibiotics. She has a fever still but it is controlled and her WBC count is still high but has come down some the last few days. She continues to fight even trying to pull out all her lines connected last night. She even picked up her left hand to do this which is good since she has not used it much.

Her story made the Atlanta Journal! Does not surprise me that my brother wants to help another family from heartache by encouraging the use of helmets. Kevin was a cop/swat for many years. Before my daughter was born I got quite the lesson on proper car seat install and seat-belt placement. Oh and don’t post pictures on social media with the harness not correct! He is the reason my daughter now 9 is still in a booster! Lol You can view the article here.

We are so thankful for all of your support, prayers, donations as it has been a HUGE blessing, and I say that as I sit here at church now while my daughter finishes up her Bible study camp. I sit here thanking God for each of you and the generosity you all have shown my sweet niece and I know that my brother and Belinda feel the same.

God Bless ALL of you!

April Shultz ❤️
