#Prayers for Nathan Houseman

Donation protected
As most are aware my 20yr old nephew Nathan Houseman was involved in a car accident in Wytheville on March 30, 2019 and was flown to Roanoke Memorial Neuro Trauma ICU where he spent a total of 41 days. 20 of those days where in the Neuro Trauma ICU on life support for a severe traumatic brain injury, double aspiration pneumonia which lead him to grow 5 different types bacteria in his left lung that required him to have 4 chest tubes, and pleura effusions. He also had a trachea, feeding tube, a couple of surgeries, and several imaging exams. 14 of the 20 days he was in the ICU he was unconscious. He spent 21 days in the Progressive Care unit at Roanoke before he was able to go to The Shepherd Center.

Nathan had to be flown to The Shepherd Center in Atlanta Georgia which is 1 of the top 10 centers in the nation for his type of brain injury where has spent the last 35 days receiving intense physical, occupational and speech therapy, as well as 21 days of IV antibiotics for his lung infections. Nathan has had to relearn how to walk, and how to do all his daily living activities.

He will soon be moving to outpatient therapy in Georgia for another 6-8 weeks where he will continue with just as intense therapies to help him to prepare to transition back into the society and the workforce.

As you can imagine the hospital bills are substantial from this injury and we still currently do not know how long or if he will continue to need any therapy once he comes home.

Nathan has a long road ahead of him and needs prayers to continue to improve and to make a full recovery.  Nathan's mom Diane (my twin sister) has been with him day and night since the accident. She would only leave him for a few hours one day a week when he was in Roanoke and when we were there with him so that she could run home to Wytheville to see her other son who is 8 and to prepare his outfits for the week for school.   She has been out on Medical Leave from work to be with him and has been by his side with him in Atlanta.

There will be a Benefit Concert on July 6, 2019 from 4:30pm-7pm at the Dublins Lion Club in Dublin VA with Jim Lloyd and Gate 10 Bluegrass Band preforming.  Nathan's cousin and my son Jared Houseman is the Bass player for Gate 10.  There will be a meal and Slient Auction as well starting at 4:30 pm.  Donations will also be collected at the Benefit or you may contact me directly.

Any donations from the Benefit to help with the cost of medical expenses will be greatly appreciated.  All proceeds will go directly to medical expenses. .

Jim Lloyd of Rural Retreat VA will kick things off at 5 followed by Gate 10 at 6.
