Prayers for Munker

On November 16, 2018, 14-year old Ealyah Esquivel was jumping on a trampoline with her friends from school when she bounced off and impacted with the ground sustaining life-threatening internal injuries that required emergency procedures by University of New Mexico Hospital’s trauma team. Because of severe  internal bleeding, the team had to perform a procedure to stop the bleeds, resulting in irreversible damage to her liver that required the removal of the entire right lobe along with her gallbladder. Her infections were so severe that she had to remain partly open with a vac machine so she would heal without infection along with 2 drains on her sides as well. Now she has to be sedated three times a week just to change her dressings on her incision. 

 Not only have these continued emergency procedures and weeks in ICU been physically and mentally traumatizing to her but her entire family as she remains in the pediatrics ICU under intense supervision. This child is a star athlete and an A+ student who plays softball basketball volleyball and shows steers goats and heifers in 4H.  Her injuries are so severe that she will be unable to return to school for the rest of the year or participate in all the things she loves the most. Our little girl is suffering pain off the chart. 

The dangers of trampolines are not new to the family when another child, Ealyah’s older sister was injured while jumping and hit the metal frame, destroying her front teeth, damaging her jaw and dislocating her shoulder. Let's also send this out as a clear message to every parent the dangers of trampolines!!

Please assist her family with the astronomical medical expenses that have been incurred due to this tragic physical injury to their baby girl.
