Corden Fidler, his mother Shelly, and his grandmother Sherry were tragically gunned down by Shelly’s husband on December 20th. Unfortunately, Shelly and Sherry did not survive. Corden is currently in the PICU of Mcclane Children’s Hospital in Temple, TX on a ventilator, with multiple fractures and internal wounds. This page is monitored by his surviving parents, Mat and Alex Fidler.  Funds will be used for the family to relocate to Central TX for Corden’s long road to recovery, medical bills and any other needs while his parents find local work.

UPDATE ON CORDEN:
Sorry for the delay. You guys are funny when I don’t update...I get so many messages!
Yesterday was a good day for Corden. Nothing really happened...which is good!
Today was supposed to be a big day, as we were supposed to start weaning him off the Versed (sedation meds). He was been increasingly active the last few days so I was excited to see what was in store!
Mat and I got a babysitter for Brynn and spent the day up there with him. This morning was AMAZING...Corden was responding to commands, wiggling his toes and get this...The neurosurgeon walked in and I told him to say hi and wave....HE WAVED! It was with his broken arm but he lifted his arm and wiggled his fingers. I.WAS.FLOORED. And so was his doctor! He also opened and closed his eyes on command, wiggled his toes on command and when Mat asked if he wanted to read a book today his eyes got super big like he was excited!
Unfortunately, we will have to wait a few more days to see him move like that again because the neurosurgeon thought he was moving a little too much and his head wound was in jeopardy. So she ordered heavy sedation for the next 2-3 days. I have waited 3+ weeks to see his eyes and personality...I can wait another 3 days. ITS WORTH IT!
In other news...we moved rooms and are now 2 doors down in room 310. Still in the Pediatric ICU.
Thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday yesterday!

Pictures is his WALL of stuffies at the end of the bed. He is so loved!

UPDATE ON CORDEN:
He had an okay night last night. The fever finally went down, from 102.4-ish. Right now it is unknown if the fever is from neuro storming, from the fungal infection or something else brewing. Cultures are constantly being sent off to check for new infections.
We spoke with infectious diseases this morning. He is continuing the blanket antibiotic and the anti fungal meds to hopefully prevent or contain anything else from popping up.
We also spoke with urology who plan on taking the stint from his ureter repair out on Monday. They will leave his nephrostomy tubes in, just as a security blanket if something goes wrong with his ureter repair. This will be a bed side procedure and won’t require a trip to the OR.
We also discussed a shunt yesterday with neurosurgery. Right now, Corden isn’t draining off his own “brain water” and a drain is doing it for him. Over time, the drain becomes more and more susceptible to infection so they are considering putting a shunt in. This is a tube that runs from his brain to his stomach or heart. The “brain water” drains into his body and the body absorbs it like usual. This is a permanent thing, and does not have any long term effects. Neurosurgery will make a decision in the coming days.
We also spoke with the floor doctor today about a tracheostomy. This has been in discussion for a few days because Cord has been on the ventilator so long. Cord also has damaged his tongue from his teeth resting on it and being swollen for so long. A trach would be much more comfortable for him and has positives in the long run too. It would also give his mouth and tongue a chance to heal and go down a bit. They were concerned about his tongue swelling yesterday and amazingly...put sugar on it to make the swelling go down. I’m sure Cord had Willy Wonka dreams!
That’s all for now. Again, if you haven’t sent me your address please do. Thank you cards will be here next week and I don’t want them to be wasted and sent to a wrong address!

Good morning all.
Corden had a good night. He is fighting a fever that they can’t figure out just yet but it’s not worrisome.
The goal for today is to keep interaction, touching, talking and any kind of stimulation to a minimum...so not visitors today please.

I have only gotten about 40 addresses. So if you haven’t sent it, please do. I don’t want to use google and it go to the wrong place. Many people say they don’t need a thanks from us but I insist, and need to do this since I can’t shake each of your hands.

Thank you for the continued prayers.
