Prayers for Brandon Lawrence

Donation protected
We all know what happened on August 4th, 2018.  Brandon was adjusting the anchor on our boat, fell off, and broke his neck.  This resulted in a salt water drowning, and a crushed C4/C5 spinal cord. By the Grace of God all the right people were there to help save his life.  We spent 6 weeks at Vidant in Greenville, NC where he suffered lung complications. On September 6th, once he recovered from the lung issues, we went down to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.  We spent 2 months down there where he participated in intense therapies, had the trach removed and began breathing on his own.

When we returned home, we had to find a vehicle.  We were able to rent a van for a few months before making the decision to purchase it.  We were able to purchase a bed that elevated so we could sleep in the same room together instead of Brandon being in a hospital bed.

We had a lift put into our garage to keep him out of the crazy N.C. weather.  Because of the money YOU donated, Brandon has been in therapy at NextStep Raleigh 2 to 3 times a week, which isn’t covered by insurance.

The list goes on, but I can assure you that all the funds have gone to Brandon, his therapies, and any equipment needed to help in his recovery.  Most recently we’ve been able to purchase a manual wheelchair which was needed for him to use the hyperbaric chamber, which was also funded by you.

First and foremost, THANK YOU!  Brandon and I have been able to stay focused on his rehab because of all that has been provided.

Our goal continues to be able to pay for things like the van, hyperbaric chamber and any therapies that may not be covered by insurance.  We are also looking at equipment that will help in his recovery. Our next big purchase is going to be a FES Bike for the house.  The Functional Electric Stimulation (FES Bike) will provide Brandon consistent therapy while at home.

We’ve learned a lot about living with a Spinal Cord Injury.  One of the big things research talks about is being repetitive and the more muscles and nerves are stimulated the better.  The FES Bike will be instrumental in Brandon’s recovery.

Prior to Brandon’s accident, he was self-employed and succeeding as an interior trim carpenter.  Since his accident he has not been able to return to his business, yet. The funds raised also helps us as additional income as we work to navigate this injury and the recovery.

Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  We do not take what we receive for granted and are very intentional on how we use it.  As mentioned above, every penny we receive goes to Brandon’s recovery and that’s our focus.

We love you!
