Prayers and Support for My Parents

On 4/10, I received a phone call that forever changed my life. My younger brother, Horacito, called early in the morning and I thought it was strange. Strange because it was his birthday and I was about to call him and wish him a Happy Birthday. Little did I know that this would be the worst day of my life. He was crying and with a nervous voice told me there had been an accident. My dad was in critical condition at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. I was shocked and numbed I did not know what to do. My first instinct was to contact my mom. She did not answer her phone. It was 11 am and my mom usually goes to Zumba class. I drove to the gym and did not find her. This is when I received a second call from a trauma nurse. My mom was also involved in the accident and was at Loma Linda undergoing emergency surgery.
I sat at the parking lot completely confused. How could this have happened? In that moment my world was completely shattered.
I learned that my parents were victims of a police pursuit. The police were pursuing a male in a stolen vehicle that hit my parents in a head on collision while my parents were stopped at an intersection. My parents had several traumatic injuries and were immediately flown out to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Loma Linda University Medical Center. My dad, Jose Franco, was diagnosed with a severe brain injury. He has undergone various surgeries including a femur repair and a humorous repair. He is currently on a ventilator and has not opened his eyes in the past two weeks. His doctors are unable to make a clear prognosis because each case varies with each individual. All I can pray for is that he will wake up soon. My mom sustained numerous traumatic injuries to her body. She had abdominal surgery to repair injuries to her diaphragm, spleen, and small intestines. She also had repairs to her right tibia, left arm and complete hip replacement. She is currently also on a ventilator. It will be several months before she can start physical therapy and regain her mobility.

My parents have gone through a lot and their journey to recovery is an extensive one. My parents are the strongest and most loving individuals. I ask all of you to please pray for them. Pray for them so that they can heal and come back home.
My parents dedicated their whole world to me and my siblings. My mom worked all day at home to make sure we had everything we ever needed. My dad worked endless hours in order to provide for us. Their only dream in life was to watch their children succeed and follow their dreams.
I am the oldest of four siblings. I was recently accepted in the Master's PA Program at USC Keck School of Medicine. My younger brother, Horacito, attends UC San Diego and is studying to be an Electrical Engineer. My two youngest siblings, Ashley and Brian, are currently in High School. We have all worked so hard to make our parents proud and will continue to work.
As the oldest, all I want to do is provide for my family and make sure my siblings have everything they need. I still have a long road ahead of me before I finish school and completely capable of financially supporting my family. This is why I ask all of you to please support me and my family in any way possible. There are several expenses that come with running a household and I need all the help I can get. I want my parents to only focus on recovering and not have to worry about us. I want them to come home and find the home they left behind still pieced together. So that we can continue to live a happy life together once again.
