Kayden and Karris.

Some of you may remember Kayden. On July 5th 2016, three days after Kayden's fifth birthday he was taken to the doctor by his mom Christine as he had not been feeling well. The doctor told her to take him to the hospital in Comox. It was there that Kayden was diagnosed with renal failure, known to most people as kidney failure and was immediately air lifted to children's hospital with his mom by his side.

Kayden is hooked to a dialysis machine every night at home and is on the list for a kidney transplant but is living life to the fullest as a spunky 6 year old now.

Josh, Kayden's father was going through extensive testing to see if he was a match so he could be a donor for his son. Sadly it was determined only a week ago Josh has his own medical issues, a clogged artery in his heart and is at risk for having a severe heart attack. Josh will not be able to be a donor for his son.

Now today another blow to Josh and Christine. Their youngest daughter Karris, just 3 years old had also not  been feeling well. Recognizing the symptoms, Josh and Christine took Karris to the hospital. It was determined that Karris was also experiencing renal failure. Karris with mom by her side were immediately air lifted to children's hospital.

Karris has since been sedated and intubated and has undergone dialysis and is currently resting with her family close by her side.

This family needs our help. No family should have to endure what they have gone through. No family should have to watch their two little children go through what they are going through.

I started this GoFundMe campaign to help relieve the family of the financial burden this puts on them, so that they can stay at the bedside or their sick daughter. So they can focus all of their attention on getting Karris and Kayden well again. The funds raised will help them with the bills, transportation costs, parking at the hospital, and food and other living expenses while away from home and work.

Karris and Kayden are  fighters and this family needs our support to help them through this tough time. Prayers and or a donation would be much appreciated. I know we can reach our goal.

I know its been awhile since there has been an update but as of Dec 31st 2017, Kayden and Karris are both doing well and at home now. Karris is back to trying to lead a normal life and Kayden has returned to school. Both children are on dialysis for 10hrs a night and Kayden is now officially on the transplant list and is just awaiting the call! So fingers crossed it happens sooner than later.

As for Josh he is still on the road to recovery. After they returned home Josh's boss was very adamant that he would be returning to work when his recovery was finished....but a few weeks later and with just 6 weeks to go before returning to work and 5 days before Christmas Josh's employer notified him that he was letting him go and would not be returning to work when he was fully recovered.

The family would like to stay on the island but needs our help. Anything you can do is greatly appreciated.

I was down to visit Josh last night he is in the cardiac intensive care unit. He surgery was a success with no complications. The removed an artery from his leg and put it into his heart. He is heavily drugged and in an intense amount of pain. He was still in good spirits though and his typical sassy self. He will be in the hospital for at least a week and recovery time is some where between 2-3 months. So that means no work, no heavy lifting, no strenuous activities.

Lets keep those donations pouring in people. Everyone has been doing an amazing job. Please share this and encourage your friends to share this as well. It only takes a second.

She is sitting up. Feeling like hell. Looking like hell.... trying to be social. Had another blood transfusion today because her hemoglobin is very low still. Hopefully getting her surgery in the am for her new dialysis line. She has a small stomach ulcer which is causing some internal bleeding. She is also catching all the common cold virus's in the hospital, about 5 now. She is so sad and really depressed. It's so hard to see a depressed 3 year old. Poor baby. It's heartbreaking..

And for an update on Josh, Karris and Kaydens father.

Josh had an angiogram done a few days ago and it did not go in his favour. It was determined that Josh will require open heart double bypass surgery.

Josh will be going in for surgery this Friday. If we can all keep this family in our thoughts and prayers. News like this makes this family even more vulnerable and are in need of support.
