On September 15, 2017 my brother Prasanth Babu Kandula suffered an acute brain stem stroke (Pontine haemorrhage) and since been battling for his life in Metro Health critical care, Cleveland.
The intensity of the stroke damaged most of the cells around his brain stem that caused paralysis in his entire body except eyes.

He is currently a Ph.d student in Washkewicz College of Engineering , Cleveland State University. He is studious, well mannered and has completed all his course work with 18 scholarly citations ( https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=2atCmEAAAAAJ) and about to present his dissertation in december 2017. He loves teaching and has received various accolades for his ability to teach including the outstanding teaching award from CSU ( https://www.csuohio.edu/engineering/news/outstanding-graduate-student-teaching-award-in-2016).

My brother is the kindest person you would meet, full of love, care and compassion for everyone. His amicable attitude and willingness to help others sets him apart from anyone I know. My mother and our family are heart broken with incredible grief.

His student insurance plan wouldn't cover all the expenses for the treatment & long term care he needs. So we kindly request you to please help us in anyway possible. All donations are sincerely appreciated.

My name is HariChaitanya Kandula & I have organized this campaign to help my brother. All the funds raised will be withdrawn by myself for my brothers treatment, care & recovery.

Thank you. We are truly overwhelmed by your outpouring support & kindness. Words cannot express our gratitude, but we sincerely thank everyone for all your thoughts, prayers, strength, encouragement & donations.

Prasanth has now been moved to Long-term acute care (LTAC) at Select Specialty Hospital - Cleveland Gateway. He underwent surgeries for Tracheostomy & Gastrostomy and has been healing well. He is able to see and hear us fine and as per the neurologist this is going to be a long-term process.

His recovery from pneumonia is much better and the test results for the cdiff virus is negative now. Occurrences of fever have also reduced. He is undergoing speech therapy and physical therapy in LTAC now. He is going to stay in LTAC for a couple of more weeks and then he will be moved to an Acute rehab center or skilled nursing care facility based on his recovery where he will be receive extensive therapy.

Cleveland State University, MetroHealth Critical care folks, our friends & family in/around Cleveland are all helping us through this difficult situation and we appreciate and thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts. We have read your comments & passed on your blessings and well wishes to Prasanth.
