Prague Shakespeare Intensive Fund

Hi there, if you don't know me I'm Jackey Boelkow and I'm a BFA Musical Theatre major at UW Stevens Point. I'm currently a junior in the program but since I transferred, this is my 5th year of college.  I was just recently accepted to study with the Prague Shakespeare Company in the Czech Republic as a part of their summer Shakespeare intensive! This is a life changing opportunity that will really give me a step up in the theatre industry. While there I will be attending class from 10am until 4pm Monday through Friday, studing Shakespearean characters, scenes and language, stage combat, text and sp
eech work, puppetry, mask, clowning, and participating in one-on-one tutorials and masterclasses. These classes will be taught by Master Teachers from around the world.  On the first day of the intensive, students audition to be cast in one of the four summer shows being produced by the Prague Shakespeare Company, giving us the opportunity to perform with professional  Shakespearean actors and providing a professional theatre credit for our resumes. This year, the shows include a gender-reversed A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Richard II, and a non-Original Pronounciation TBA show. The tuition also includes the opportunity to visit historical sites in Prague (Prague Castle, St. Vitus Cathedra
l, Charles Bridge, Alchemy Museum, and the Astronomical Clock) as well as experiencing theatre, opera, dance, and music events throughout the city.

Unfortunatly, the tuition is quite expensive ($6000) and 50% of it needs to be paid by April 1, 2017 to secure my position in the program. My schooling is currently paid for by financial aid and because this is a theatre company not an educational institution, it is not covered under my FAFSA. 

This opportunity means the world to me as it is one of the most amazing educational opportunities I could ask for and I feel so blessed that I was chosen to be a part of this program.
