LGBTI HIV+ refugees/ Asylum seekers

Hi there,

I am collecting and distributing funds to LGBTI HIV+ refugees and asylum seekers in Kenya East Africa who in many cases have had their petitions delayed or stopped due to decisions made by the new  administration tion.

The funds are to buy basic food stuffs, critical to the needs of these refugees, all of whom are taking powerful Anti-Retroviral medications while their cases are pending.

I am Ronnie Kayigoma, a refugee who recently arrived. I have been living in Berkeley California since April, 2016. My background working with the LGBTI community in Uganda and Kenya, and my status as a newly arrived refugee myself, make me particuarly qualified to help. It is my passion.  

Here's how it works:

I identify LGBTI refugees or asylum seekers, through referrals I receive from my connections and visibility in the Kenyan and Ugandan LGBTI refugee community.

I forward 100% of all funds raised through GoFundMe to refugees and asylum seekers using wallet or M-pesa, an award-winning networks which provide this essential banking tool to low-income people in Africa.

Funds are received and used to buy food locally and receipts are provided back. Without enough food, it is a challenge to take ARV medications.

This community suffers in the wake of oppressive legislation in Uganda that severely punishes LGBTI people, as well as those who help LGBTI people. Penalties can include long prison sentences, as well as extra-legal harassment and torturing
