Hello hello, I am Patrick Halgren from Tolland, CT, USA.

3 years ago I lost my the majority of my left leg in a motor cycle accident. Since then I have been pursuing my dream of representing the US ski team in the Paralympics. However for me to do this, I need your help!

I'm raising funds to continue my training and to start competing nationally as an alpine adaptive ski racer.

There are three developmental teams in the U.S.  Two are in Colorado and the other in Utah. I have been invited to train with these teams for the 2016-2017 winter season.  with these teams costs comes only training, basically you pay to get the good coaches who specialise in racers with disabilities.

This and lots of gate time will be vital in turning me into the fastest man with one leg!

I will still remain self-supported and will rely on my own funds for all travel, race costs , and all FIS certified equipment. skiing is a very expensive hobby for most, and while i've been chasing the snow working at resorts for a staff pass i am fighting an uphill battle with little training and coaching myself. I will be using the funds I raise directly to compete at the top international level and earn my spot on the 2018 usa parlympic ski team.

With a little more than 400 days to go I have been training in Winter Park Colorado for about a month, which is well known for its adaptive skiing program. I am already seeing some big improvements in my skiing and learning a lot...

I am motivated by PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games which will be take place March 9-18, 2018 where athletes will compete in 80 medal events across six sports.

The first Paralympic Winter Games took place in Örnsköldsvik in Sweden in 1976 and featured two alpine disciplines - slalom and giant slalom.

To make it to the Olympics, I must be singular in my focus almost to the point of obsession. This is to the detriment of most other things in life, including money—both earning money, which takes my focus off of training, and accumulating money, as the little earnings I make on the side is spent on things like equipment, trainers, travel, and coaching.

I am a believer that where there is a will, there is a way, but in dire need of financial support, so please help fund my dream, if you cannot donate today, sharing this post would be awesome.
