Honoring 20 Year Navy Veteran

Donation protected

As highly requested by the public, in honor of Powell O. Greening who served in the United States Navy for 20 years, a GoFundMe has been established for donations, to pay respects, & offer condolences.
Powell Orlando “Cotton” Greening died December 9, 2018. He was born April 17, 1935 in Camden, AR to Paul and Christine Greening. He served as Two Bayou Volunteer Fire Department Chief and Constable of the Bragg Township for twenty years. He was retired from the Centel Corporation and worked for Golden Ford Company. Mr. Greening was a retired veteran of the United States Navy. He courageously, passionately and devotedly served his country in both wartime and peacetime. He was active for nearly twenty years in the military and was a true patriot with great love for his country. Powell was thanked by many for his service in the navy as noticed by his worn retired veteran hat.

Everywhere he went, Powell was recognized for his widely admired, handsome, and distinct handlebar moustache. His sense of humor, sass, and stubborn personality were a highlight to many. Powell was both a hero and a rock to his family. He was a Christian who devoted the last eight years of his life to attending church. Powell was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle to his family and a beloved friend to many. Powell’s love touched numerous lives; and because of his love for many and inspirational acts, we have been shaped into better individuals. His memory, life legacy and love will live on within each of our hearts until we see him again.

In addition to his parents, Powell was preceded in death by four brothers, James Douglas Greening, Robert Paul Greening, William Tyson Greening and Billy Ray Greening and a sister, Margaret Greening Beavers.   He is survived by two sons, Matthew Greening (Anita) of Hot Springs, AR and Anthony Greening of El Dorado, AR; a sister, Ruth Headrick of Cape Coral, FL; two granddaughters, Jordan Greening and Hannah Greening of Hot Springs, AR; a grandson, Samuel Greening of Hot Springs, AR; an aunt, Willie Margaret Mobley of Texarkana and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice caretakers from the Ouachita County Medical Center including Bill and Patty Greening, Pam Womack, David Teague and any others that gave a helping hand.
