A Post for Peace

My name is Hillary. I'm a graduate student at New York University with International Development and Peacebuilding major and I happen to have a passion for visual art. Just like Lederach, I believe that creativity has a significant potential to mediate conflict and build peace. 

Today there are over Syrian refugees in Jordan, 140 thousands of them live in refugee camps and I wish to share some of their stories. This Summer, I'll have the chance to participate in a peacebuilding project that utilizes the use of creative media to help refugees integrate with host communities.

The project is hosted by an international humanitarian organization in Jordan, and in order for me to participate in this project, I need your support. 



It would mean a lot to me if you can help me fly there to participate in their project and support me for my 2 months trip there. Your donation whether it's large or small can make a real difference to help my vision of building peace come true.

The money that is raised through this campaign will be used to buy my flight tickets, pay my visa application fee, and as well as my living expenses there. I will withdraw the fund and use the money to pay for these things. 

Your virtual participation will not go unnoticed. In return for your support, I'll do an Instagram photoshoot for you if you are based in NYC and will feature you in my online visual journal dedicated to this project.

You are more than welcome to share why you support this project so that everyone, along with the youth living in Jordan refugee camps can hear your support despite the distance and barriers. I will directly contact you to schedule the photoshoot - so please don't set your donation as anonymous.

However, if you're not in New York you are also welcome to share your photo or video story to me through emails and I will make sure to include them as well.

I truly believe that we should be able to break distance, borders, and barriers to promote peace, and through the use of online media platforms, we can actually do that. I want to be able to bring the story of young Syrian refugees in Amman closer to the people that live thousands of miles away in cities like New York or LA, and I want them to hear your support too.
