Pony Posse Fund

Donation protected
This is Elizabeth Gardner, who runs my daughter's pony club, Pony Posse, and she's magic. I first met her in the late 70s or early 80s and immediately thought she was the coolest person I'd ever seen. Forty years later, I still feel the same way.

A couple of years ago, she decided to move back to town and start Pony Posse, a pony club she'd started in New Mexico. She found a home for her eight plus ponies and horses at White Could ranch in Malibu, and Pony Posse California was founded.

Every Sunday my daughter and a group of her girlfriends spend the day under Liz's spell. They have learned to ride, tack, bath and care for their horses in the most beautiful way. Liz gives them a long leash to learn from their mistakes, but always keeps them safe. She's taught them to trust but trusting them, completely. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I've even crashed Pony Posse a few times. Liz has done more for me and my daughter and her friends than I could ever put into words. I know that these girls will grow into fantastic, independent women, and so much of it will be due to Liz's selfless, loving, magical influence.

I'm writing because as of this morning, there is no more White Cloud Ranch. It was burned in the Woosley fire, along with so many other homes and ranches. Liz's daughter raced to the ranch early this morning and was able to let their ponies out to the pasture, and then the fire came. It came fast and mighty, so she helped get all the White Cloud horse out of their stalls and then barely made it out alive.

Liz arrived at White Cloud moments after her daughter, and everything was on fire. Both of her horse trailers, her tack, her magical Pony Posse picnic tables and camp site were all in flames. And because she is Liz, she didn't drive away from the fire, she drove to Malibu to help her friends evacuate their animals.

Liz has made an impact on my life, my daughter's life and her friend's lives that I will be grateful for forever. Now, not only has she lost her livelihood, she's lost most (if not all) of her Pony Posse belongings. A car, two horse trailers, a lifetime of tack and gear. Animal Control was able to get to White Cloud and gave the happy news that all 48 horses and ponies on the property are alive, but they need medical attention.
