Help Our Kids Get to the 2019 VEX IQ National Robotics Championship

We are all working parents trying to help our kids have a once in a lifetime experience come true! We need all the help we can get to cover expenses and provide this experience for our kids...so please consider donating!!

We Need Your Help -Why?

We need help with travel costs for twelve students to attend the Nationals  2019 CREATE U.S. Open Robotics VEX IQ Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  This isn’t about winning; this is about the ultimate experience for these children - broadening their understanding of STEAM, reiterating teamwork and patience, dedication, meeting other children from across the nation with similar interests, empowering their minds and overall self-esteem.

VEX IQ Robotics is about teamwork - not only driving at the competitions, but behind the scenes in constructing and programming their robots. The boys and girls work together to make it all happen.

The Background Story:

During our 2018 – 2019 program the students from Pomelo Community Charter Elementay School learned how to build and program different VEX IQ robots, and compete in two VEX IQ Leagues sponsored by LAUSD Mulholland Middle School and Chaminade Middle School. This program was very successful and on February 02, 2019 two Pomelo Panthers teams competed in a final robot Next Level Challenge tournament. One team was awarded first place for the tournament and the other team was awarded first place in the Robot Skills category. The Pomelo Panthers were presented with the 2018-2019 VEX IQ Challenge Teamwork Champion Award and 2018-2019 VEX IQ Challenge Robot Skills trophies.

For winning the above awards, the two Pomelo Panthers teams received invitations to compete in the following championship tournaments. The first tournament will be the 2019 California VEX IQ Elementary School State Championship for one team on March 02, 2019 located at San Diego, California and the other team on March 03, 2019 at La Verne, California. The second tournament will be the 2019 CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship – VEX IQ – Elementary School Division located in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 1-3, 2019.

Please consider donating - any amount you can give will be greatly appreciated!!  Thank you and build on!
