PoetrIE Squarespace Website
PoetrIE was recently awarded a grant from California Humanities for $5,000. We see this as strongly validating our mission to inspire robust engagement with the literary arts in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
But, that money is going to rent our space, pay our poets and writers, provide snacks, and not get the word out. We thought we could do that ourselves, pro bono. And, hey, for the most part we do pretty well, but we need a stronger web presence.
We need a good site. A site we can sell merchandise on - signed poems, books - a site we can clearly display all literary events in the IE, and where - most importantly - we can share and build on the communites that already exist here.
So we're asking for $216. This is the cost of a year's Business account with Squarespace, which amounts to $18 a month.
Don't know about you, but that's more than I spent on anyone this Christmas, including myself.
But if only 20 people put in the cost of lunch, $10.80, then hundreds, thousands of folk in the IE, in the nation, will eventually be able to buy work from local poets here.
40 people? We're talking the price of a latte. And not a fancy Christmas Spice one either.
As Treasurer I've seen how donations have made a huge difference to our organization and to the programming we've been able to create over the past 6 years or so. So please, consider giving what you can.
