Raise the Roof!

$5,500 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 104 people in 3 months
Tucson's most vibrant performing arts incubator space needs a little help. For 11 years, Rhythm Industry Performance Factory (aka RiP Factory) has been home to some of our favorite local performers — Odaiko Sonora, SolAxé, Flam Chen, Tucson Circus Arts, MMOS, Movement Salon, Theatrical Mime Theatre, Suzuyuki-kai Mogan Daiko, 7 Pipers Scottish Dancers, and many others.

You usually get to see us for free at events like Tucson Meet Yourself and the All Souls Procession. Serving the Tucson community through the arts is a core belief of every group at Rhythm Industry. Now we're asking if you can support that belief.

After several years of stopgap measures, it's time for a new ceiling. We've researched the most cost-effective, long-term solutions and gotten three bids. The bottom line is we need to raise $5,000.

Rhythm Industry is the only artist-owned performing arts incubator in the southwest. We've survived 11 years on many very small amounts of money. We are living proof that every amount matters, and no amount is too small. If everyone on our mailing list gave $10, we'd reach our goal easily. Your gift truly matters!

And, should you feel inspired to give a bit more, donations of:

$50 receive Friend of Odaiko Sonora lapel pin

$100 receive an Odaiko Sonora 15th Anniversary T-shirt

$500 receive the above and 2 tickets to Odaiko Sonora in Concert at the Green Valley CPAC on March 13, 2019

$1,000 receive the above and either
a private workshop for family or co-workers at RiP Factory...
a 45-minute performance by a 5-7 player ensemble (subject to scheduling)

$2,500 donations receive all of the above and 4 VIP tickets to Shidara, taiko drummers from Japan, at the Fox Tucson Theatre in May 2019

The ceiling is installed, roof fixed, and in the next couple weeks artist and Odaiko Sonora member Hank Tusinski will be installing a community altar in the lobby for the coming season.

Seems like a great time for a little party/opening. Please save the date — Sat., Sept. 22, 5:00–8:00pm — for a wee shindig at Rhythm Industry Performance Factory!

Guess what?

A mere 7 days after launching and we REACHED OUR GOAL!!!! やった!, Yatta!("Hooray, we did it!“). Actually, we surpassed our goal.

The Gofundme is at $3,865. $2,597 came in through Paypal, Venmo, checks and cash. In other words, we exceeded our $5,000 goal by $1,462!

I am completely overwhelmed and grateful for the support we received. And not just from Tucsonans, who can use the studio regularly. Donations came from Green Valley, Sierra Vista, Pearce, Phoenix, Flagstaff… from California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, New York … from Canada and the UK.

All funds will be applied to the care and maintenance of Rhythm Industry Performance Factory. Once the ceiling is paid for, we’ll use $900 of the excess to fix a couple small leaks and re-seal metal screws on the roof. We'll bank the remainder (and anything that comes in after today) for the new coolers we'll certainly need by next season (judging by the sound of them and the fact that one's motor keeps overheating so that it shuts off).

We are deeply, deeply grateful to all of you who shared, donated, and believe in our studio’s mission!

We just topped $3,000, 60% of our Gofundme goal! If you add the $762 received via Venmo, Paypal, cash and check, we're a mere $1,238 short. Check out these photos to see what your donation means to the community of artists at Rhythm Industry Performance Factory. Then please consider sharing our campaign with someone you know who enjoys festivals and culture. Even $10 makes a difference!

Hello, Beloved Donors!

At $2,725, our Gofundme campaign is more than halfway to our goal. The additional Venmo and Paypal donations of $535 nudge us even closer. Thank you so much for giving our fundraiser get such a mighty start!

Many of you gave without ever having seen Rhythm Industry Performance Factory, aka "RiP Factory." I made this (pretty rough) video that has some visuals. You can see the building, the lobby and main space, and you can see the damaged heat shield. There are pictures of some of the groups who work out of the studio, and, of course, there's an Odaiko Sonora taiko soundtrack (thank you Jen Weir for composing "Asobi"!)

You can watch the video on YouTubeL https://youtu.be/1Pe-_VQJKZg
