Metroflor's Crush MS Campaign

Metroflor / Halstead Corporation is pleased to announce that it is raising awareness and funds to help support the fight against Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic, unpredictable disease that affects the Central Nervous System (CNS), which consists of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. It is thought by the medical community to be an immune-mediated disorder, in which the immune system incorrectly attacks healthy tissue in the CNS.

Metroflor / Halstead’s own Michelle Esposito, currently the head of our Fundraising Committee has a very personal history with MS, as her mother lost her eight-year battle to MS at the young age of 45, leaving behind seven children, the youngest of whom (Timothy) was eight years-old.

Yet Michelle and her family are not the only ones who have been touched by this disease, as it is estimated that more than 2.3 million people worldwide have MS… though the actual number might be even higher, as the symptoms can be completely invisible. Additional research indicates that people with MS may live an average of roughly six to seven years less than the general population, due to complications brought-on by the disease or when compounded with other medical conditions.
