Pls help me with this Ameren bill

We are trying to get energy assistance for our electric bill. Ameren just called my mother, and told her the bill is now about $750 (I honestly have no idea how it got that high). Due to her health, they won't cut the electric, but they are going to cut the gas if we don't pay at least $525 tomorrow.

I had a payment plan all set up for $60/mo. I made both my husband and mother aware of this. Neither one of them paid for August or September. My husband forgot to pay, apparently. So when I tried begging them to let me go back on the payment plan, and I guaranteed this wouldn't happen again, they pretty much told me it was too late.

So energy assistance is trying to get it taken care of, but of course, they're closed on Friday. I can't have the gas get cut off. Not only do I have an elderly mother in poor health that I am caregiving for, but I have a daughter as well.

I have been applying to so many businesses in the area for nearly a year, and I cannot seem to get hired anywhere. I get paid by Addus for caring for my mother, but it is only for $200 every two weeks. Unfortunately, Ameren will not even take that money in good faith. I have tried everything I could possibly think of, and I have no one I can borrow that kind of money from. We don't have that kind of money saved. I feel ashamed asking for handouts when I'm not that kind of person, but I have nowhere else to turn to, and I'm the only one that's trying to do something about this. I don't care what happens to me, but I cannot allow my mother and daughter to not have warm water/heat. 

Unfortunately, we don't have anyone we can go to in this area  that would let us use their shower. I would never ask for help if I didn't so desperately need it. Thank you.
